Are we going to complete all 4 LOs in the class?
How many photos should we prepare for this class and what kind of look does each layout achieve?
So excited about this class! I've booked myself a slot already. :peace:

hi sharon..
this is the workshop description:

Ever wondered what your scrapping style is or eager to experiment with alternative styles you are not accustomed to?
Take a pop quiz in this workshop to find out just what kind of a scrapper you are, if you don’t already know by now. And if you’re keenly aware of your own scrapping style but eager to do something different then this workshop will equip you with the relevant knowledge and skills.
Create 4 different but equally attractive layouts, each focusing on a particular style which make up what we call our style sampler. There’s the FREESTYLE, GRAPHIC STYLE, SHABBY CHIC STYLE & COLOR BLOCKING STYLE! All 4 styles have their own unique traits and design principles and we’ll be sharing them with you explicitly!

the sample will be ready for viewing next week.

Hi Elvi,

Am in same boat as Wendy! Would really like to attend this class and since you're putting the request on file, am expressing my support for having it on a weekday next month. :becky:

Personally prefer weekday morning but guess that will depend on the number of people to make up a class. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can fit this into my schedule next month!

I am so so sorry ladies. :hail: :hail: :hail: Have been so incredibly sick all of last week after i came back from my trip the week before. Madly trying to catch up on all my backlog of work. 2 weeks not being able to work at full strength has caused me quite a few headaches and panic attacks.:(

Am desperately working against time but it's been really hard to get the samples out.

i will most likely have to cancel this Friday's workshop. Will be calling all the people who have registered in the morning to inform them.

Please look out for next month's schedule. Cos the other timeslot for this workshop is fully booked. I aim to get the samples out by early next week.

I am truly so sorry for the disappointment. This is a classic case of the spirit is willing but the body is weak.:(

Don't push yourself too hard. When the body breaks down, it is a HUGE signal that we need to rest............. :juggle:
So, please get enough REST........... you are here for the long haul........ take it as a marathon, not a sprint!

Thanks so much Wendy for your encouragement. :) But i think it's probably the weather cos i've been working like this for the last 4 years but never fallen this sick. Probably lao liow also (translates: getting old).

Also the problem probably lies with all of us on the team who are trying to sprint through this marathon. Hahaha!

We've got all these things we want to do to make mwl the dream scrap supplies store where all our needs can be met. I think we're a bunch of obsessed, highly idealistic people. Hopefuly, not to our undoing.

Okay. Gotta head to the warehouse now. Lots of goodies to release tomorrow...yay yay yay!!!

Apologies for the rambling..i get that way when i'm tired or under the weather. Brain is constantly in overdrive...

But really thanks everyone for being so understanding, it really helps take the stress off a little. :)

Thank you soooooooo much everyone for being so increeeeeedibly patient. The sample layouts for SCRAPPIN" STYLE SAMPLER are finally done!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Here are some sneak peeks of the layouts that you'll complete. A total of 4 to be completed in this workshop. Only 1 layout didn't get captured in this photoshoot and it makes use of the designs from the new Obscure collection from Basic Grey.:becky:

But they are all on display at the store now for your viewing. And it's designed in such a way that you should be able to complete them all during the workshop itself. No groanwork.:frusty:

Looking forward to seeing all 12 of you who have signed up for this Sunday's workshop. Thank you for signing up in faith. :hail:

hey Vicki,

how about this? a scrap challenge for you since you can't quite be here physically...but thought maybe you could still join in the fun, by coming with one or more LOs based on what you see in this sneak peek - expand on it. of course, the materials used could be different. what do you think? just for fun...

There are quite a number of photos to be brought along. One of them is quite a big photo. If I am not wrong, should be a 5" x 7" photos... Hehe... Then you will need roughly 6 of 4" x 6" photos and 3 smaller ones... Don't really remember the measurements for the smaller photos... :tape:

This is not a free-play workshop. You won't get to experiment and do variations of the actual workshop sample. I.e. there is no decision-making involved. So no worries, Fabian!:)

Specific instructions will be given for each layout and if they are followed to the letter, you should be able to complete the layouts during the workshop, pending how chatty the class you've enrolled in is.:becky:

Workshop attendees who make too much noise and do not follow instructions will be placed in a corner or be given detention and will have to stay behind after the workshop ends as punishment. :whip: Just kidding.:becky:

In order to make sure that everyone completes all 4 layouts in 3.5 hours, almost everything is pre-cut. Design principles/guidelines and scrapbooking techniques for each of the 4 styles will be shared and through the layouts, you will learn them explicitly. It is basically a crash course on all 4 dominant styles in scrapbooking.:photo:

You will also take a pop quiz during the workshop to find out which scrapbooking style you most likely have or you're most likely to adopt.:)

elvi
26th September 2007, 09:57 PM
Thanks Adoncia, was going to put up the instructions for the layouts but you beat me to it!:becky:

Anyway, if you have signed up for the workshop, these are the photos you should prepare. (Although, i suggest you take a look at the colour scheme of the layouts to help you in your selection of photos when you come to make payment for the workshop, if you haven't already have). Size is one thing, colour scheme is important too.

In addition to the size of the photos required, I've listed below the colour scheme for each of the layouts as a guide.
Photo sizes are required in these exact measurements. Nothing bigger or smaller than what has been stated.

Layout 1: Graphic
1 5R photo (7"x5" landscape)
Type of photo: black & white or coloured (blue/grey/browns/greens i.e. earthy tones)

Layout 2: Shabby Chic
2 4R photos (6"x4" landscape)
Type of photo: Sepia-toned or coloured (pink/ beige/ green/ brown)

Layout 3: Freestyle
1 4R photo (6"x4" landscape)
3 2R photos (or 2.5"x2.5")
Type of photo: Coloured (orange/ yellow/ green/ brown/ beige)

Layout 4: Colour Blocking
2 4R photos (4"x6" portrait)
1 4"x4.5" (portrait)
Type of photo: coloured (red/ blue/ yellow/ green)

HOWEVER..... if you have no time to look for photos, the layouts are designed in such a way that you can fit the photos in easily even after the workshop. So you can either go take an appropriate photo/s for the layout/s or take your time to seive through your mountain of photos until you find those which are suitable.:)

hi Elvi

This question is for the class. I went down to the store and had a good look at the type and size of photos... i am a very good student..hee...hee..:). copied down every measurements of the photos... but problem is I may not have the photos to fit...

So, is it possible to tweak it if i bring a different size photo than the LO required?

elvi
4th October 2007, 02:15 PM
It's possible only if the photos are smaller (up to a maximum of half an inch) before it affects the overall design of the LO.:)

You can definitely scrap without photos. I designed the workshop in such a way that it's possible.

In fact i recommend that you actually come to the workshop without photos and go home to plonk them down so that you have the right photos on your LOs, especially if you haven't seen the samples.:)
