Hi all! This has been set up for you gals to post any questions regarding the projects you will be completing at her workshops.

She'll be able to answer them direct when she pops in here from time to time. :)

Hi, do we have to bring any photos for the workshops?

Jennifer Lynn

Great question! The answer is "if you like". :)

I try to design my classes so that you do not need to have photos to complete the project. One thing I like to show is how to put albums together when you might have no idea of how you are going to use that album in the future - or how to put layouts together for later (i.e. doing the layout first, adding the photos when you have them). Its a bit of a backwards approach but I find it helps me when I'm stuck.

If you DO want to bring photos with you (and note that my layout samples will have photos but my albums won't), I'll post a list in a couple of days of what to bring. I'm presently in the Hong Kong airport about to board a flight for San Francisco so I don't have ready access to my lists at the moment but will make sure I glance at them. :)

But... definitely do not worry about having photos or not having photos - they are not critical to completing the projects.

Thanks Jennifer for your prompt reply. Great to know that we can do without having photos for the workshops :)

If you do want to bring photos, here is what you can bring:

Patterned Paper Party

layout one... four photos of someone you love (adult or child)

layout two... four photos of yourself or another person (layouts is geared female but can be adapted for anyone)

layout three... four photos of a celebration (birthday, party, anniversary, retirement, graduation, etc.)

Sunkissed Scallop Album

we will not be adding photos as part of the class instruction, but if you want to add as you go (so that you can stamp on top of or or layer photos), you'll want to bring a selection of photos to pick from (12-15) - the finished album is about 5"x7" so you'll want smaller photos (3"x5" or wallet size)

the primary album colors warm (rich brown, coral, some hints of green)

Edgy Escape Album

this is the most freeform of all - some of you will want to add photos while others may wish to use it as a travel journal to save for later - the finished size of the album is 6"x9" and I'll be teaching you a binding technique to allow you to put as many or few pages in it as you like - so its up to you what you bring and I'll help you figure out how to incorporate it all. The primary colors are black, white, our luxe blue, and lime green.

Another note... something to know about me/my teaching style.

I was a "frustrated student" for years... I loved taking classes because I enjoyed learning the techniques but I was frustrated at always coming home with projects I didn't like because either the supplies weren't to my style or being forced to use titles or embellishments that weren't useful to me (doing a baby layout when you don't have a child... not so much fun!)

So... when I started teaching, I've always tried to work my classes where you will:

1. have lots of supplies to pick from in your kits so you can vary your album as you need to (no pre-cut titles or themes you have to use)

2. have options to adapt the project to your needs - whether its adding pages or accomodating different sizes of photos - I'll come around individually to help you adapt the project as you see fit

Ideally, everyone will leave with the same conceptual project but their own version of it - but of course, if you want to have yours look exactly like mine, we can accomodate that too. :becky:

You are also welcome to bring your own favorite supplies (if you are a button person - or if you can't imagine completing a project without your favorite corner punch - or must add flowers to everything) - its okay... I'll help you figure out how to use them so it has your signature touch.

The only rule we'll have is that you leave with a project that YOU love.

Hi Jennifer, may I know what's the difference between Sunkissed Scallop Album and Edgy Escape Album?

Jen
5th June 2008, 01:17 AM
Hey Sharon, have you seen the brief on the three different workshops by Jennifer found in June's Love Letter?

well here it is...(i cut and paste :hand: )...

Edgy Escape Album - Sat 28 June, 9.30am - 1pm
Capture the memories from a treasured journey with this fun 6"x9" accordion bound album featuring several of Luxe's paper lines. Mixed together is full of fun insertions, pockets, and hiding places. We'll stamp, color, paint, and journal while we all share stories from our favorite
escapes.

Patterned Paper Party - Sat 28 June, 2.30pm - 6.30pm
Do you love collecting bold graphic papers but hesitate to use them? If so, this class is for you! We'll create three double-page 12x12 layouts as well as a number of cards and tags. Enjoy experimenting with new techniques while you build your paper confidence. You'll go home with many new ideas, lots of completed projects, and a jump start for your creativity.

Sunkissed Scallop Album - Sun 29 June, 2pm - 5.30pm
Get a taste of Luxe's popular Sundress and Sarong lines as we paint and cover a Maya Road mini album full of painting and stamping techniques. Your completed album will be perfect for the best of your most sunny and joyful memories.

As long as you bring your basics (scissors, adhesive, trimmer... ) you'll be fine. :)

To answer the questions on the differences between the two albums - the scallop album is an 8 page chipboard album with the standard Maya Road ring binding. The escape album is a paper album and will be a minimum of 16 pages (and can be more depending on how you want to customize your album). The first album is better for small photos, not a lot of journaling. The second is better for lots of photos or momentos and/or lots of journaling.

You'll pick up lots of my techniques for albums in either class so if you are struggling to pick, I'd say pick the one you are most drawn to for either the format or colors. ;)

As usual, trimmers are provided, along with the standard tool kits you get in workshops at Made With Love. :yo:

Please bring your fave precision tip scissors like our all-time fave Honeybees.:becky: If you don't have 1, we may loan them out to you upon request.

And of course, your adhesives.

For Pattern Paper Party, may I know what's the size for the photos needed for the 3 layouts?

For Pattern Paper Party, may I know what's the size for the photos needed for the 3 layouts?

On each of my samples, I've used two 4x6 and two 3.5x5 - but the designs are fairly adaptable so if you wanted to use four 4x6 or smaller cropped down photos, I can show you how to work with that. (One of the things we'll be learning in class is how to take a sketch and adapt it to make it work with your photos or embellishments!)

Had an enquiry at the store today and if you're the person asking ... you will complete 3 double paged LOs, that's 6 LOs and a number of cards and tags for the Patterned Paper Party workshop. It's exactly as what's stated in the workshops description we released at the beginning of the month!

I know .... mind boggling isn't it? :becky: So much to be done!!!

I am going without any photos. Couldn't print them today!

Jen
27th June 2008, 01:19 AM
i think, from what Jennifer had explained earlier on in this thread, it is optional to bring along photos...you can always add them to the completed LOs.

wow, 6 LOs or 3 double-paged LOs! wow, that is great!

am looking so forward to an Edgy Escape.
