 Hello everyone !

Trying to find new ideas for projects and keeping everything fresh is important. The phrase *old is new* could be your starting point and we ask that you look at what you already have, re-cycle it into a project. How about using tags from your shopping or packages ? Recently my mum gave me a wallet and it came in a well-made box with a pull out drawer……. immediately the scrapping possibilities sprang into my mind !!

Sharon in her usual Distress style has come up with a beauty of a layout full of techniques and the vintage look of the page is such an interesting mirror to the re-cycle theme.

Visit her Gallery to find out the re-cycled items she put together and a comprehensive list of products she used.

The store will open this Thursday 24th, and let me tell you ………… it is amazing with MORE space, MORE products, guaranteed to be a totally all round MORE-ish experience and fun, fun, fun ! Save the date, you will be thrilled with the dressing up Made With Love has gone through just for you !!!
See you there ! ** Aida **

Almost mid week and have you been scrapping ? Running out of ideas and on the look out for new ones ? How about going green ?

Scrappers who worry about too much wasted packaging will be happier knowing manufacturers are beginning to add value to their products by using packing that may be used on layouts or as accents. Keeping this is mind, for the next few weeks the Design Team will be working on re-cycled materials such as scrapbook product packages, backings, even cartons. Visit this Blog every Tuesday to see what the team comes up and we hope to surprise you with layouts or projects with a green twist.

Piradee has created a beautiful green project that will surely inspire you ! Don’t take my word for it, just head to her gallery to check out the mini book in detail.

We are all excited about the big reveal and am sorry to keep you in suspense but I promise this short wait will be worth it ! Keep up with updates at this Blog or the message board.

Till next week, keep scrapping, I’ll see you at Made Wtih Love soon.

How comfortable are you working with bright colours ?  Well, Genevive Rulona our Guest Designer for June and July says : bring it on !!!

screen-shot-2010-06-09-at-am-093443.png

She has done a fabulous job of getting the the brights together and we love this layout featuring her son. If you would like to try bright coloured layouts, remember to keep to similar tones even when the brands are different and add accents of contrasting colours in small amounts to avoid the layout being ovewhelming.

There are more amazing projects by Genevive in the Gallery *here*

Sharon is hosting the ‘Lift Me !! Challenge #7 and we hope you will join her. The theme is Distress, Distress, Distress !! and this is her stunning layout :

I’ll see you next week, happy scrapping !

Happy Tuesday scrappers !

Can you use scrapbook products for *arty* pieces ? Of course you can !  Sometimes we just feel like creating a piece of work that expresses our moods or a moment and rather than buy new art products, why not delve into your scrappy supplies and make your own art ? Anyone can do this with small pieces of scrap remnants, a few well placed embellishments, eye popping colour and you will soon have a piece of art that is completely you.

canvas-collage-01.jpg

The trick to starting a project like this is to focus on what you want to express and start small. The center piece is 7″ by 5″, not huge and easily doable for most scrappers. Go through your mediums, decide on the main colours, gather all you think you might need, make sure they are within arm’s reach so you don’t have to break your rythmn to rumage for that one item. I love work with a vintage feel, prefering rich colours like those in antique Peranakan artifacts and this makes the Maya Road Turquoise Metallic misted canvas frame coupled with Orange and Browns of the center piece an ideal match. Work slowly, layer by layer, adjusting the embellishments as you go along and remember to add texture by using fabric in various weights as well as a mixture of mediums like Ranger’s Rock Candy or Perfect Pearls. Importantly, don’t rush or feel you need to finish it all in two hours.

I hope the work above has given you some idea of how you can use scrapbook supplies in a less conventional way and you wil try creating an Art project soon.

Keep scrapping !
