We would like to introduce Carol Yeo the winner of The Scrapper’s Loft Scrap Idol who has been invited as Guest Designer for Made With Love for the months of August and September. Regulars at the store will know her, her son Christopher, daughter Nathalie and her lovely, very patient husband Paul who sometimes waits at the Table Scraps Cafe in the store.

Carol’s many layered layout featuring her marriage is very beautiful, a memorable keepsake and has deep meaning. It is stunning in it’s intricacy and texture, with much thought put into creating it.

Carol has a blog where you can see her layouts as well as read snippets of her life.

Thank you Carol for joining us !

Hi everyone, Aida here with news from the Design Team.

First off are HUGE, HUGE congratulations to Emeline Seet-Ng and Jacq Yeo, two gals in Made With Love’s Design Team for being chosen runner-ups in the Memory Makers Masters 2009.This is a biggie in scrapbooking terms because of the stringent requirements and the fact they are literally pitting skills against the very best. Thank you both for adding buzz to the scrapbooking community in Singapore with this recognition of your talents !

Are you all ready to CHA-CHA ? Not the sultry dance but CHA Summer 2008 ? The last two weeks have seen excited scrappers waiting for products from the trade fair to arrive in the shop. While arrivals are definite, it was interesting to see which products would hit the shelves first and we know many eyes were peeled to this blog’s usual Thursday entry to find out what’s here.

This is what the Team came up with :

Merdrey has a quirky, interesting style and she is perfect for the American Crafts papers creating a page about Kopi (coffee).

Lia’s quintessentially feminine style shines through with her page about friendship using Basic Grey’s Eva.

Leena uses Basic Grey’s Offbeat together with a mix of other brands to scrap a page about Bridesmaids.

Travel and culture are Soo Jen’s passion and this page uses Basic Grey’s Urban Prairie and Offbeat to illustrate a fascinating slice of life in Hanoi.

Luxe papers are ideal for graphic, MTV styled pages to get you scrapping out of the box !

The products are all out on the shelves at Made With Love as well as these layouts. See you all there !!

Now who doesn’t love a good story ? A mini album can say so many things - stories about love or pain, travels and babies.

Soo Jen is a fan of travel albums and has many stories about the countries or cities she visits. With her astounding stamp collection and the experience to use them effectively, she creates evocative pieces of art ! Featured below is the Maya Road Sheer album that has been altered to tell the story of her trip to New York.

A detailed explanation can be found in Made With Love’s Gallery so be sure to visit !! The album is in the store for viewing where scrappers who need ideas to start their own stories can browse leisurely through it.

Here is a sampling of some of the pages Soo Jen created in the album :

Hello everyone, it’s Aida here ! This week the Design Team worked with a mixed series of brands and you will see our styles shinning through.

Leena used curved edged papers which are still a winner with scrappers here and she jazzed up serene coloured Autumn Leaves papers with bright embellishments to fit the personality of her son. This layout feels fun, with the details adding immense appeal.

Merdrey is at whizz at adding texture to the layout and this time the casually pleated green ribbons and the apples on the papers added a playfulness to the layout. October Afternoon is one of Merdrey’s favourite brands and working with distracting fruit motif is not always easy, yet she does a great job of drawing the eye to the photo, notice the journaling on the photo.

My cat is a favourite subject and even though he is a boy cat, I feel it’s ok to use little bits of pink in the October Afternoon and MM 5th Avenue papers, not overwhelmingly sweet and nicely balanced with the other browns in the page. The layout is stepped and layered from the top left down to the right.

You don’t have to wait till next week for another edition of layouts from the Design Team. We invite you to come on over and browse the Made With Love Gallery featuring amazing layouts by Singapore scrappers for more ideas !!!

This week’s inspiration layouts used a delicious combination of products of the Tattered Angels Glimmer Chipboards in Chocolate and Rouge, Prima’s Say It In Crystals, Fancy Felts Just Corina Matties and the ever romantic Basic Grey paper Charming in the Sugared line.

Jacq’s layout features the dramatic black Felt Mattie effectively drawing the eye to the photo :

Lia’s very pretty layout used the Butterfly Glimmer Chipboard as a striking accent on the page :

Emeline used a centrally placed photo of her daughter on the Sugared Charming patterned paper :

Soo Jen created an interesting page detailing a close friend’s children who have a wonderful bond with each other :

Please visit the Made With Love Gallery to see other beautiful pages by talented Singapore scrappers as well as the Design Team. You might find a layout that will inspire you to start on that long overdue page or a technique you might want to try out.
