::5th FAIRYTALE BIRTHDAY CROP BALL ON 15 NOV ‘08::
My oh my! What a party it was that we had yesterday! When we thought up the fairytale theme, there was never a doubt if ball attendees would be game enough to go crazy with us and get dolled up for it and we were proven right when almost all of you spared no effort in making sure you popped right out of a fairytale!!!
Once again, it’s only die-hard Scrapaholic For Life members at Made With Love who will never fail to let their hair down and parteeeee!!! It was a wonderful mix of crop party “virgins” and seasoned crop attendees who attended, which made this all the more fun!!!
Just look at all the effort that ball attendees put in … … isn’t this simply AMAAAAAZING!!!!
Scrapper V who looked like she stepped right out of the set of Alice in Wonderland … …
2 pixie fairies in black and pink … totally color coordinated in support of our Sizzix launch perhaps??? :)
And what do we have here? Captain ‘S’ Hook attacking a wicked witch from the west? Looks like there’s some “in-fighting amongst the baddies …. ;)”
Wait a minute …. who’s this? We did say fairytales of eastern origin were perfectly fine too … so what a pleasant surprise to have Chang-Er (with spectacles included) make her sudden appearance, no doubt myopic from the constant glare of the moon ….. ;)
We had more pirates from the carribean and chef with runaway gingerbread man …. toys from our kids were certainly not spared, as seen by this mommy above who swiped her daughter’s toy baking tray and play dough … LOL!!! :)
Wonder what the commotion was about … … fancy these people in their get-ups looking shocked at something … if only they saw the even more shocked looks from passers-by … overheard often …”Eh? I thought Halloween was over???” LOL!!!
Here we have a very cheerful Cinderella before the ball sandwiched by 2 fairies and a horse, named SweeCh and a little monkey named, Xun. :)
Do you see the evil queen disguised as old woman from the fairytale Snow White peeking sinisterly from behind Wendy from Peter Pan? And not 1 but 2 Pocohontas?
That’s me, Princess Fei Fei Jasmine together with 1 of the Pocohontas, my witch friend and Cinderella in her ball gown plus angel cum fairy … …
Here and there … you see ball attendees getting into “character”. :)
Some even put up in-promptu skits right at the entrance … here’s a famous scene from Snow White …
Silly Snow White gets conned big time as the story goes ….
And evil Queen disguised as harmless old woman sniggers cruelly …. i almost dropped the camera from laughing so hard … we gals never wanna grow up … i’m so glad we have each other to go crazy together with!!!!!
And the looniness doesn’t end there, our very own version of Peter Pan … … here’s Captain ‘S’ Hook trying to desperately get at some Sizzix dies!!!!
Not too pleased with ‘Wendy’ who’s really just trying to help … no no …she’s really not trying to beat you to your dies Captain ‘S’ Hook ….
Back at the Scrap Labs after the costume parade … scrapping began in earnest … ball attendees were told that for every creative project they completed at the crop, everyone got to pick any prize they wanted from our prize table where over $1250 worth of scrap supplies kindly sponsored by Making Memories, American Crafts, Maya Road, Scrapworks & S.E.I. were up for grabs!
Sounds simple enough???? Well …… not when ball attendees also had to contend with 3 team games to win more prizes, and 5 shopping specials announced at 1 hour intervals where attendees were only given 5 minutes to shop for an array of scrapping supplies at whopping discounts!!!
Check our what they had to do … ….
TEAM CHALLENGE 1: Best Designed Ball Gown
Attendees worked wonders with supplies we provided and designed these most amazing ball gowns on the dressforms we provided them. Team with Best Designed Ball Gown wins. But that wasn’t all. All completed dressforms were auctioned off to ball attendees and we managed to raise $70 for Pertapis Children’s Home!!! All done in 20 minutes!!! How cool is that????
Teams seen hard at work designing in a jiffy… …
Some tickled by what they had to do to design this floral bustier …. …
But it was this team below who emerged the winner …. ..
They won for this beautifully designed ball gown above with great workmanship …. no joke ok? Had well-positioned darts done for the bustier even, for the slimming effect … judges Sandra and Elvira were particularly pleased with this point .. hahahaha ….
But do check out the other lovely gowns designed by the other teams …
Fantastic isn’t it that we managed to raise $70 for charity with these dressforms?
TEAM CHALLENGE 2: Cinderella’s Lost Paper Slippers
Ball attendees were real quick at locating the “lost” slippers which we planted all around Made With Love … it certainly pays to know the store layout well … no brainer for any of the ball attendees, like this team, who have pretty much made it their 2nd home. LOL!!!
TEAM CHALLENGE 3: How Well Do You Know Your Fairytales?
Ball attendees worked in teams to answer a quiz on fairytales. Couple of hilarious answers were received. ;) But eventually one team emerged the winner with 20 points out of a possible 22.
But team challenges were not all ball attendees had to deal with while trying to be productive scrappers. Haha!!! a total of 5 shopping specials were announced one at a time each hour during the crop party!!! And with only 5 min to shop each time cos we’re 5, there was not a moment to rest as ball attendees flit from one activity to another. Think some of them lost a few calories in the process … we did say it was gonna be an action-packed crop! ;)
SweeCh helping to announce one of the shopping specials ….
And the shopping frenzy that followed each time ….
Tea-time came and we had a fake-O champagne pouring thingey going on here for a “fairytale effect” LOL!
Thanks to Chenta and team, we had this lovingly baked birthday cake in the shape of a castle ….
Our version of pork knuckles (food from medieval times in keeping with fairytale theme) according to Chenta …. chicken drumlets in reality …. this cracked me up!!!
Our tummies were filled ….thanks to these 2 lovely ladies Chenta and Helda AND Henry … boo hoo we didn’t get to take a pic of in his lovely jingly bell hat …. anyone got a pic of him?
And remember … all this went on while scrappers attempted to scrap as much as they could to win more prizes … i honestly don’t know how they found the time but boy were we amazed as scrapper after scrapper yelled out “I’m a Royal Scrapper and I’ve completed a project!”. The scrapping crown was passed from one person to another, some barely having it on for 1 second before someone else yelled that she too had completed a project …. well to cut the long story short … a lot was done at the crop we think and we are so happy for everyone!!! Check out some of the photos we managed to take of the ball attendees with their completed projects. There were too many to keep track of with some of the scrappers completing multiple projects during the party!!!
Some even won bonus prizes for wearing the crown at the precise time whenever my phone rang and it was a call from King John, my dh. :)
Yes, it was quite a mad day … as you can see i was pretty much dashing from one thing to another … looked like i rolled off my magic carpet … blah ….
And with more prizes to be given away, we had a most well-liked creative project contest which ball attendees voted for …
And this scrapper walked away with the prize for her interactive mini album titled ”Day Zoo”!!!
Finally, the last grand prize to be given away …a $50 Made With Love cash voucher went to …. …. “Chang-Er” who got the most votes from fellow ball attendess for coming best dressed. Here’s a pic of her in her full outfit … doesn’t she look splendid?
Thanks soooooooo much EVERYONE for giving your all in helping to make this a truly unforgettable 5th birthday celebration for us all!!! We must say that it wouldn’t have been half the fun it was if not for all you ball attendees who were immensely sporting and incredibly fun to be with!!! Ladies!!! You made it a blast!!!!
To more good years as we look forward to celebrating more birthdays with everyone!!! :)
And now …a few shots from {BEHIND THE SCENES} … …
Chunling .. serving with fairy wings all day long to amused scrappers …. …
Nigel our part-timer helping us stock up with rabbit ears …. ;) The things we put our team through … they must hate us … hahahaha!!!
And here are pics of SweeCh, Sandra and i with our little ones …. we’ve thought long and hard about setting up our own blogs .. but since we really can’t find the time and our lives are so intertwined with what goes on at Made With Love, we will borrow a little space here for our own memory preservation … bear with us a little please …. JUST FOR LAUGHS!!!!
SweeCh, dressed up as a “monkey’ with her little “horse” and “tiger”. :) they’re sooooo adorable!!!
Chole came as beautiful Princess Belle so Lucas was literally forced to dress up as Prince Charming … took me 3 days to convince him that he couldn’t go as the evil black Spiderman (not fairytale theme, Lucas … that’s from comic genre!!!!) … he wanted to be a “liiiiiiittle bit bad” in his words … so i relented and said he didn’t have to be a goody 2 shoes prince charming, i’ll let him have a sword to slay dragons …. ooooo dear … there goes my resolution to not expose him to violence… hahaha … and he still grudgingly agrees to be Prince Charming for a day!!! This boooooy!!!!!
Gorgeous Princess Belle a.k.a. Chloe darling … in all her glory ….
The “liiiiiitle bit” bad Prince “Not So Charming” Lucas scheming to get a kiss from the beautiful Princess Chloe, daughter of Queen of Fairies Sandra … …
Prince seen here trying to ask nicely for a peck on the cheek met with resistance … …
His pleas fall on deaf ears … …
Distraction may work … hey Princess Chloe ….. look over there? What’s that?? Is it a bird, plane??? …. ….
Waah!!! Do you see it Princess Chloe?
There’s my chance … quick peck on her cheek!! Haha!! Gotcha!!!
V -for VICTORY!!!!!! Prince “Not So Charming” Lucas rejoices as a none-too-pleased Princess Chloe looks down in irritation!!!
Queen of Fairies Sandra here spreading a bit of birthday cheer … love this shot of you dear .. am so gonna scrap it!!!
Aunty SweeCh the horse, seen here whisking Prince “Not So Charming” Lucas away from the wrath of Queen of Fairies Sandra who is livid at him for having stolen a kiss from her Princess Chloe … …
