This party was attended by a bunch of seasoned die-hard scrappers. Applications received for this year’s Survivor Crop Party were only from those who were the least faint-hearted and judging from the sheer amount of shopping they did and the quick pace at which they scrapped, they all more than deserved their spots at the party!
And thanks to Kelly, here are some sneak peeks at some of the action at our 3rd annual Survivor Crop Party!
We signalled the start of the crop party with this trailer which Anne-Marie put together with last year’s Survivor Crop Party pics to get everyone in the mood and to remind them of what they’re in for! Check it out here by clinking on the link below and make sure you have the music on loud for best effect! ;)

Torches and goody bags were then handed out. In true Survivor tradition, castaways were informed that the torches (made no less from Bazzill textured cardstock, hehehe) represented their lives on Made With Love island. :)
Castaways were quickly split into 2 tribes - Scrap Tribe and Crop Tribe and informed that all tasks would test them on important Made With Love survival skills. They had to OUT-SCRAP, OUT-SHOP and OUTLAST each other!
Without further delay, the 1st task was announced. And everyone got to work in earnest, with no time to waste. The goal? To OUT-SCRAP each other in this task!

Scrappers were instructed to scrap-lift our Resident Designer, Aida Haron’s layout, that was flashed on our projector screen as seen in pic above. They had only 1 hour to do it and the slowest 3 scrappers from each tribe would be automatically voted out of the game.
And scrap they did, in most impressive ways, considering the pressure of a tight timeline with strict mandatory guidelines to adhere to! Look at what some of the scrappers managed to come up with …. some even had time to spare!

Immediately, after the 1st task was completed with the pre-requisite number of scrappers voted off, the next task was immediately announced!
With this empty scrap lab below, need we say more? It was a task that focused on OUT-SHOPPING each other … something that none of these seasoned castaways had problems with!

Bemused walk-in shoppers had to make way for these castaways who shopped with a vengeance since the tribe who clocked in with a lesser combined purchase amount would have 4 castaways voted out of the game! We threw them an incentive in the form of better discounts so everyone’s hoarding skills were really pushed to the max.!!!!

Castaways shoved away everyone in sight … thank goodness, all shopping by-standers who bore the brunt of the castaways’ unruly behavior were understanding enough when they were informed why these scrappers were shopping so maniacally! :p
Shopping Specials were announced and here is a pic below of one of the Castaways who clearly looked like she definitely got her OUT-SHOPPING skills thoroughly honed!

And with all that shopping, we were sure that some tummies would have started to rumble so in Survivor style, a mid-day snack was served wrapped in banana leaves … …

After more free & easy shopping and scrapping time, more tasks were conducted.

With these 2 castaways below finally being the ones who made it into the FINAL 2. E, castaway with bandana on head had earlier won the immunity idol and she chose to take her fellow original tribe member with her to the final 2. Along the way, many alliances were formed through “bribery” and acts of selflesness, like the sharing of supplies and exchanging of items in goody bags between castaways .. but their alliance proved to be the strongest as they worked hand in hand to make it this far. :)

Told that they had to give a short speeach to the rest of the castaways who now made up the Tribal Council, they each quickly drew up their speeches … talk about taking this game seriously. Kudos to them!

The FINAL 2 were grilled by the Tribal Council. And had to answer questions that threatened to break the goodwill between the 2 tribal members … for e.g. what makes you deserve the title of Sole Survivor over your other tribe member? Why do you think you deserve it more than her? All i can say is that i was glad that i was not the one in the hot seat!

One castaway who made up the FINAL 2 , in an effort to show that she’d do almost anything for the top prize, even voluntarily broke into a dance.

Not to be outdone, the other finalist, stood on a chair and danced on it to prove her worth to the Tribal Council.

Finally, it was time to vote … …

Solemn looks abound as the Tribal Council took their voting very seriously. After all, the castaway named Sole Survivor would walk away with 1 million rupiah or S$150 worth of Made With Love cash vouchers.

One Tribal Council member aimed to spook the FINAL 2.

Others were a little less dramatic when they voted. :)
But finally, after the votes were tallied, there was a tie!!!!!! Never in the history of our Survivor Crop parties, had we encountered such a phenomenon. And so with another quick tie-breaker game which the Tribal Council devised, the Sole Survivor was declared!!!!

Survivor Castaway E who ripped her T-shirt and shorts that very morning of the crop party for a more authentic look proved her resilience and she received the title of Sole Survivor and 1 million rupiah or S$150 worth of Made With Love cash vouchers!

Castaway M here was runner-up and received a consolation prize of S$40 worth of Made With Love cash vouchers.
But you know what the sweet thing was? The 2 castaways who had formed a close alliance from the start decided to share their win! How sweet is that? That is precisely why this is Survivor-Made With Love. Where love is ranked above all else - The love for scrapping and shopping but most importantly, love for your fellow scrapper!

And thus, we conclude our update on this year’s recently held Survivor Crop Party - Season 3. What a lovely shot of one of the most fiesty bunch of scrappers! Some however had permission to leave the “island” a little earlier and were not in the pic becaaaause …. ….
It was Day 2 of the F1 Singapore Grand Prix Night Race!!! And a number of us had tickets to attend it, including yours truly. :P
Here are some pics for scrapping friends who couldn’t make it to the event and especially for all our foreign friends who we meet on our buying trips in the US who we know read our blog to keep in touch … … this is what Singapore looks like!!! :)
Here are some pics taken by my hubby, J, who got to the race venue a little earlier than I.
I must say, i hadn’t been much of an F1 fan prior to this but once i got to the race venue, it was electrifying! Just hearing the loud whirring sounds of the powerful engines of these F1 cars, just made the hair on my back stand, heart beat furiously and truly an unforgettable experience! (Not so unlike what i experience when we receive a shipment of to die-for scrapping supplies! ;P)

Scenes of the race venue just before the sun went down.

Pic of stand overlooking the start/finish line earlier in the evening before the race.

Pic of the pit where a lot of action took place and the infamous incident where the fuel hose refused to be detached from Felipe Massa’s Ferrari causing him to lose pole position and pretty much the entire race. All because he was prematurely given the green light to leave the pit. And he drove off with the fuel hose flying in the air!!! His pit crew had to run 500m to get to him, only to struggle to get the fuel hose off from the car!!
Please excuse my amaterish commentaries. Am sure many of you know much more but this is just my way of archiving some of my thoughts here before they make it onto my scrapbook! :P For those of you who are not so clued in on this whole F1 shebang … … i hope this gives you a bit of entertainment. :)

Pit area of one of most watched F1 drivers of this season … … Kimi Raikkonen … …

And some action we got on our camera later in the evening when the race was on in full force … …

That’s a pic of Lewis Hamilton from McLaren above.

Fernando Alonso from Renault - the driver who eventually won the Singapore Grand Prix. My personal favourite, cos he was the underdog, starting at 15th position at the race even though he clocked one of the fastest times per lap during the qualifiers, but was let down when a fuel line in his car broke. Nevertheless, due to a stroke of luck and his superb driving skills, this 2 time World Champion eventually came in 1st last night at THE race of the season!

Lewis Hamilton - A hot favourite and currently the driver who’s ranked 1st this season for collecting the most points.

Kimi Raikkonen in his Ferrari … …

And the lengths that some of the fans go to, to get a better view! :)
And finally, J and i took a walk on the race track after the race! Cheap thrill i know …. but couldn’t help it. It is after all the world’s first F1 Night Race!

And the closest i got to the action … … rubber from tyres left behind by the F1 cars on the chicane!

What an action-packed weekend this has been so far. Trust the other Survivor Castaways who made it to the race after the crop party had a fabulous time as well!
Thanks for bearing with this blog entry if you’re not an F1 fan … it’s just not often i get these out-of-the-world experiences and being the scrapper that i am … this makes it onto my ”Some of the Most Scrappable Moments” list.
You have a great week ahead everyone … and with one more day to the end of our Survivor promos … it’s best you RACE down to our place for the last of the special Survivor Perks we’re offering this month!
Lotsa love, {e}
