{HAPPY DAYS CROP PARTY ON 22 MAR ‘08}

As usual, our crop parties are really an excuse for all of us to scrap, shop, munch and party reeeeally hard!!! This party was not an exception and you’ll know why when you see what went on at this much anticipated wild event!!! With a 70s retro theme, in keeping with this month’s theme at Made With Love, crop attendees spared no effort and came dressed to kill!!! Just look at them!!!

Can’t find retro-looking accessories? Make your own, just like this scrapper here, who did a lovely job using foam and her trusty die-cut machine to make these super fun earrings!!!

Vavavoom! Whip out a feather boa here, as this scrapper did!!!

And this bling bling collared retro-printed dress that this resourceful scrapper managed to hunt down!

Here’s another gorgeous scrapper, who whipped this out of her very own wardrobe!!!

And this scrapper here looks ravishing with her long pearl necklace and retro-printed dress!!

Malee and i here doing our best, aiming to look retro … Malee complete with wig and all and i in a pair of bell-bottoms i half- sewed myself. Half-sewed cos i basically sewed on the bell bottoms to an existing pair of pants by cutting out pieces of cloth in the shape of a trapezium and held them together with the running stitch. A major feat considering i only passed the sewing component of my home economics class in secondary school with the help of a good friend! :P Hemming … what’s that? i pretty much duct taped anything i could!!!

All too soon, as usual, what are crops without our infamous challenges where prizes can be won!!! Malee announced our GROUP CHALLENGE of the day!!! Lip synching and dancing to retro songs from the 70s!!! Complete with demo dance steps, Malee gets all crop attendees into action as they plan and choreograph their very own dance routines!!!

Marcus here from our cafe {TABLE SCRAPS} joins in the fun and cosies up with this scrapper here… …

Rehearsing their moves but …ahem … isn’t that more dirty dancing then 70s disco dancing??? …. heheheh …..

And with the show underway, the 1st group gives their all and what a riot it was!!

Not to be outdone … the 2nd group huddles for some last minute conferencing … …

And wows the crowd with robust singing, or rather, lip synching and well-choreographed dance moves to the tune of It’s Raining Men!!!

A bit of stage fright???

Easily overcome with a little humour from a fellow dance member … …

This group seemed off to a slow start … you almost wonder if their conversation went something like this … “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It’s SUPERMAN!!!”

But wow wow weeeee …. did they impress the crowd with their swaying and the impressive performance of their lead “singer” who stole the show.

Malee, the host of the party was quick to pull her aside after the performance for a quick interview where he teased her mercilessly!!!

He then went on to point out the dos and don’ts for this challenge. Mimicking moves of previous dancers … this one, likened to the Great Singapore workout!!!

And then he went on to show us his moves … now that’s what he calls dancing!!! Laughing Out Loud

Alas, his tips seemed to fall on deaf ears as this group went on to perform what looked like the waltz or tango …. tsk tsk tsk … it’s 70s disco dancing babes!!!

But it was super fun and the “audience” lapped it up as seen in the enthusiastic response of Teresa, one of us from the mwl team!!!

And we were not to be spared as all crop attendees goaded us, Anita, Chenta, Malee, Teresa and i, on to perform for them, in “revenge” for all that Malee had put them through!!! Hahaha!!!

Malee really strutting his stuff as i looked on in panic at how i was going to prevent myself from cramping his style!!!

But i tried my best by doing the funky chicken dance move the best i could … can’t say we got resounding applause but plenty of laughs from the audience :P …. think i’d better stick to scrapping … considering i almost twisted my back from losing my balance in my platform shoes!!!

All thanks to Malee … … our frontman who helped us redeem ourselves, i hope!!! :P

And finally, THE RESULTS … and this group won for themselves scrapping supplies worth no less than $30 per scrapper … and that’s Indah in the front, who danced with this group, our duracell bunny of a part-timer who’s always got oddles of energy and enthusiasm!!! No surprise since she’s in the National Cheerleading Squad!!!

But it was quite a schizophrenic affair as just from the high of dancing like crazy, crop attendees were very quickly able to settle down and get right back to scrapping … talk about women with a mission!!! Laughing Out Loud

And this is what a crop is about … HELPING HANDS … a lovely sight at many of our crops as scrappers help each other out by sharing ideas, tips and tricks with each other… …

And in keeping with our 70s retro theme, movies such as ‘Saturday Night Fever’ and ‘Grease’ were screened on our projector screens during scrapping time … …

And snacks were served … all the dancing might have been hunger inducing cos the mini burgers, salsa and chips were all devoured before i could even get a pic of them … managed to get a shot of the yummy nutlella cupcakes Chenta baked though … …

But what’s a crop party without SHOPPING SPECIALS!!! All crop attendees were handed retro black and white polka-dotted plastic bags to stuff their stash in and 5 shopping specials were announced at intervals where crop attendees were given less than 20mins to select their hearts’ desires … …

And boy, did plenty of crop attendees shop and shop and shop!!!

Soon, it was time to select a winning layout for the crop’s SCRAP CHALLENGE as the party began to draw to a close. Crop attendees had been asked earlier on during the party to scrap as retro-looking a layout as possible.

We roped in the help of friends from Penang who also own a scrapbook store there to be the judges of the scrap challenge! Big Grin

And boy! did they have a tough time deciding!! But finally it was down to these 2 layouts … …

And this layout titled ‘MY DADDY’ emerged the winner!!!

This scrapper won for herself scrap supplies worth almost $100. She received a Making Memories Paint kit, Queen & Company chipboard alphas and embellishments, a Pebbles Inc scrap kit complete with papers and more embellishments and a Maya Road sheer album!!!

Subsequently, the BEST DRESSED AWARD had to be presented and crop attendees were each asked to vote for the scrapper they thought best deserved this award!!! From the voting slips, the choices were narrowed down to these 5 scrappers … …

But ultimately, the award and prize went to this scrapper who charmed us with both her sparkling personality and retro outfit, complete with orange colored feather boa for a touch of 70s glam!!

She won for herself scrapping supplies worth almost $80 for her scrapping enjoyment which consisted of Fancy Pants patterned papers, Queen & Company chipboard alphas and embellishments, a Making Memories Paint Kit and Maya Road sheer album!!!

And with that, our crop party drew to a close as children and husbands came to whisk mommys away while others packed up to leave after a wild afternoon and evening of fun to spend the rest of the evening with other loved ones.

But what a crop it was … … as these pictures can testify … it’s simply amazing how fast friendships are made at our crop parties … with scrappers meeting for the first time, getting on like wild fire!!!

We’re just so happy to see how our love for scrapping has brought so many people together and we look forward to more of such bonding times with all of you!!!

To all HAPPY DAYS crop attendees … we reeeeally hope you really enjoyed your time with us on Saturday … and reeeally look forward to bumping into you soon. Big Grin

Marcus and Swee Hong who helped put food on our tables inside and outside the scrap labs on Saturday … all smiles even after a long hard day slaving over the stove, or rather the oven!!!

And Anita, Malee, Teresa and i fooling around at the end of the day in our get-ups!!! We are sooooo going to scrap these pictures cos such memories are for keeps … and it’s times like these that we’re so thankful that we have this passion of ours - the gift of scrapbooking … … we just can’t imagine how different life would have been if we hadn’t found scrapping and each other.

::TRENDY NEW ARRIVALS THURSDAY #5::

THIS IS INSAAAANE!!! We don’t know how we did it, but we did and we truuuly hope you’ll be totally bowled over by what’s come in. Miraculously, we’ve managed to have over 1000 different brand new items added to our shelves virtually overnight!!! How’s that? That’s more than 1000 new scrap supplies you could possibly put into your shopping basket and lug home with you, 1000 new supplies that you can incorporate into your creative projects, more than 1000 different products in a single shipment so we really hope you feel spoilt for choice when you visit us!:)

We really tried our best with almost all of us having just clocked in 2 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours!!! :P As such, we were able to get ready 17 of the 23 brands that arrived. Actually, it’s also due to the lack of space that we aren’t able to display it all but some pictures of the other new arrivals which we have not been able to release to you are however in this blog update and we’ll most definitely keep you updated the moment we get more brands displayed for your ‘hoarding’ pleasure.:P
