::MAYA ROAD WORKSHOPS ON SAT 24 NOV ‘07::

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Judging from the response on our online Made With Love forum, it sure looks like we all had heaps and heaps of fun learning from Caroline at her workshops!!!

Here’s a recap of a crazy day of “scropping” - a word coined by Jas for shopping and cropping that goes on simultaneously!!

Scrappers moved from station to station to complete scrapping tasks where various techniques from stamping, using crackle paint to adding glitter to embellishments were practised!!!

Clear step-by-step instructions on Powerpoint specially put together by Caroline were flashed on our projector screens on top of printed handouts which were distributed for scrappers’ easy referenceSmile.

Judging from the easy banter that flowed freely across the room, it was a fun and relaxing workshop for one and all … …Big Grin

And there were times that we sat scrapping …. ….

And times when we stood ….Big Grin

But no one was tired out especially when we announced our shopping special for the day at around 5pm … …Laughing Out Loud

As a gesture of appreciation to all who’ve been immensely supportive of Made With Love and to celebrate mwl’s 4th birthday, workshop attendees were told that they would be given 4 minutes to speed shop and everything in their shopping bags would go to them at an unprecedented 40% discount!!! Scrapaholics Anonymous members could select up to a maximum of $200 worth of scrap supplies whilst Scrapaholic For Life members could have a $400 loot of scrap supplies!!! Laughing Out Loud

Just before flag-off, scrappers waving their bright orange shopping bags in anticipation …. ….

Not after many false-starts as i fell of a step ladder i was standing on and said ‘Oh’ which was interpreted as ‘Go’ by some scrappers further away from me!!! Razzberry That was hilarious!!! But rather embarrassing for me!!!Redfaced / EmbarassedRazzberry

Shopping strategies employed by scrappers were aplenty .. … said one scrapper A, ” Just stand in 1 spot and grab everything within arm’s reach!!!” LOL!!!! Wink

Some strategies were immensely successful, with 1 scrapper being able to grab a record-breaking $800 PLUS worth of scrapbook supplies in 4 minutes!!! Wowoweeeee!!! EEK

Some serious shopping going on here …. ….

Sandra pulling out supplies from storage, trying desperately to meet the needs of the very savvy and “hungry” scrappers who seemed to know exactly what they wanted!!!

A happy kind of mayhem … … fortunately, we managed to clear the store of all other shoppers and walk-in visitors of the store … who peered in from the entrance with incredulous looks … …

And finally, when 4 minutes were up … everyone dutifully handed their shopping bags over for the “damage” to be ascertained … …Razzberry

And oh how 4 minutes proved too short a time for many who didn’t manage to get all that their hearts desired … ..  workshop attendees cajoled Sandra and i for more specials … …. we finally buckled under the “pressure” and gave everyone 1 last chance to pick 1 additional item to be thrown into the shopping bag!!! Wink Cheeky! Cheeky!!!

But seriously, it’s the mad mad mad bunch of scrapping friends who visit mwl regularly that have made this place of ours a truly fun hang-out for all passionate die-hard scrapbook enthusiasts who could all literally live on love, fresh air and scrap supplies!!! Why are we so nutty??? Simply because we love … love forging strong relationships through our love for creating and preserving memories with oh-so -preeeeetty things!!!

And oh how after this day, should we officially be known as ‘Mad With Love’ … … as Caroline shared … she has never met a crazier fun bunch of scrappers!!! LOL!!! Laughing Out Loud

Thank you Caroline for sharing this day with us … … we reeeeeeally appreciate you doing the additional class on top of the 2 you initially already agreed to do, despite your hectic schedule. Doing an evening of Make & Takes followed by a full-day of workshops from 10am - 10pm was no joke but you did it all with a smile and great warmth!!! And thanks to Noah and David for sharing your mommy and wife respectively with us!!! Big Grin She’s brought us untold joy with the products that Maya Road has designed and developed over the years!!Smile Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!

Hope you’ve all recovered from your whirlwind trip to Singapore and we sooooo look forward to seeing you in a couple of months’ time in Anaheim at the CHA Winter show!!!

And as usual, our message to all our scrapping friends who we love soooo dearly … … keep on lovin’ and keep up the scrappin’!!! Big Grin

Lotsa luff

{e}

P.S.

Hugs and kisses to sweetie pie Noah who’s really quite a trooper for an 18-month old …. staying up till past 11pm for chilli crab that took FOREVER to arrive …. oh what a night!!!

Here are some precious shots we got of Noah for you both - Caroline and David …. …Big Grin

::MAYA ROAD MAKE & TAKE PARTY on FRI 23 NOV ‘07 ::

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

One of the highlights of this year just has to be Caroline’s visit to our store. As co-owner of Maya Road, a well-known and much sought-after brand of scrapbook supplies in the US, many other parts of the world and right here in sunny Singapore, we are indeed honoured that Caroline has taken time off her busy schedule to pay us a visit at Made With Love!!!Big Grin

Her 2-day visit began with a casual meet and greet Caroline session last Friday evening and it was great seeing so many of you turn up for an evening of scrapping fun, light munchies and light-hearted conversation!!!Big Grin

Everyone was encouraged to ask Caroline all sorts of questions to get to know her better and to find out more about how Maya Road got started … now we know how Caroline and her sister Deborah came up with their unique and pleasant-sounding brand name Maya Road … … Wink

It was then time for a little scrapping fun as Caroline made her way to the front of the store to our Demo Bar where she did real fun and cute make & takes with everyone using Maya Road chipboard accents … …

And for a cute souvenir to commemorate this special evening, these 6″x6″ make & take layouts were for scrappers to get Caroline to autograph on and to stick photos taken with Caroline on … ….

After about an hour of Make & Takes, i announced the start of an Artist Trading Card (ATC) challenge and Caroline took part in it too!!! All participants of the challenge were given 15 minutes to each complete an ATC of their own. Caroline was real game and made 1 too… The prize at the end of the challenge was a $40 gift basket of Maya Road scrapbook supplies and Caroline’s ATC … … The winner was the scrapper who made an ATC which Caroline chose to keep as a memento.

On top of embellishments such as Foof-a-laa buttons, Making Memories brads and eyelets, American Crafts chipboard accents and felt accents, an array of ribbons, and lots more, participants of this challenge were also handed out scraps of patterned papers and a stamped piece of cardstock for them to fill in the relevant details commonly found on ATCs.

And from the word ‘go’, scrappers were intensely focused as they created ATCs that reflected their own creativity - ATCs being the equivalent of name cards for scrappers … … every effort was made by all participants of this challenge to do the best they could with all that was provided within the short time-frame given.

When the 15 minutes were up, Caroline had the tough task of selecting just 1 ATC which she would bring home with her! Big Grin

After some deliberation, Caroline chose fellow scrapper Marix’s ATC and Marix not only received the $40 gift basket of Maya Road scrap supplies but also Caroline’s ATC for keeps!!! Wowoweeee!!!Laughing Out Loud

Congratulations Marix!!! Your ATC’s now half way round the world with Caroline and we hope you’ll have plenty of fun with your gift basket of Maya Road goodies!!! Wink

And to all who made this evening special with your presence, we reeeeeally hope you had a fabulous time!!! Thanks sooooo much for taking time off your busy schedules to show up and give Caroline a biiiiig warm welcome Made With Love style!!! Big Grin

Lotsa luff
