SDU - Basic Program (3hours x 4 sessions)
University-style Training Program

The curriculum of SDU starts at the very beginning! In all the 4 modules, theory and technique classes will be coupled. The theory classes present the foundation for beginners and exposes advanced students to view scrapbooking in a whole new light, while the technique section of the class will allow students to build on the scrapbook structure with a series of dynamic hands-on technique projects.

Module 1: Scrapbook Basics, Tools of the Trade & Matting

Scrapbook Basics
What is scrapbooking? Why should I scrapbook? How do I get started? This inspirational class answers all your questions on the hobby of scrapbooking.

Tools of the Trade
Which tools are the most important? How are these tools used? The proper use and benefits of craft tools are discussed and demonstrated in-depth.

Matting
Understand how to frame or enhance a photo with our clever matting techniques. Create up to 7 projects for your binder.

Module 2: Journaling, Lettering & Titles

Journaling
Pictures do not tell a thousand words! Don’t miss this important class about the profound impact of adding words to a scrapbook page.

Lettering
Become comfortable with various lettering techniques. This class includes plenty of practice space for letter doodling, which will reveal your own creative style. Have fun practicing with a range of different pen tips.

Titles
Create spectacular titles for amazing page presentations. This class features up to 6 title examples.

Module 3: Color & Punches

Color
The concept of color theory is visually explored in detail. Learning about color’s relationship to scrapbooking will empower you to use color in new and exciting ways.

Punches
Use punches in ways you never imagined… create over half a dozen punch scenes, punched borders and other punch shapes in this class.

Module 4: Layout Design & Stickers

Layout Design
Learn the principles of design structure to give you the tools to create dynamic layouts every time. Discover how photographs, journaling, titling, enhancements, lettering, shape and color work together for great pages.

Stickers
Learn the nuances of sticker art – from cutting to trimming to layering or adding dimension. Create over 10 sticker projects in this class.

SDU - Masters Program (3hours x 2 sessions)
University-style Training Program

A follow-up to SDU™ – Basic, this series of 2 lessons is recommended for graduates of the SDU™ Basic Program.  Students will be taught theory and techniques in the use of patterned paper and embellishments that will increase their level of confidence and provide creative breakthrough for even more impactful and beautiful scrapbook pages.

Prerequisite: Graduate of SDU™ – Basic Program (at least Module 3 & 4)

Program fee: $130 for 2 x 3hr lessons

This challenging and more demanding program offers advanced techniques, new concepts and innovative ideas that will push the limits and offer new ways of looking at the scrapbooking craft. The Methods/Masters program consists of 2 modules and allows the mastery of 2 of the most exciting yet challenging areas in scrapbooking.

Patterned Paper
With the knowledge you acquired earlier about color theory, you will learn advanced application of patterned paper and discover how color and pattern work together to create a harmonious scrapbook layout.

Embellishment Savvy
Explore how embellishments can turn plain designs into one-of-a-kind keepsakes, and transform the mood or meaning of an entire project. Using your acquired knowledge of layout design, you will develop the ability to view a basic layout as a blank canvas for your embellishing creativity!
